CONGRATULATIONS to Meghan Matheny '18, Miya Kuramoto '18, Gwen Gisler '20, Dakota Edwards '19, and Alex Powers '18! All five of these athletes are heading to Staten Island next week to compete in the NYSPHSAA Indoor Track & Field Championships! Meghan won the pole vault at State Qualifiers, clearing 11'0". Miya took second, also with a vault of 11'0", and Gwen qualified for states with her third place finish and a season best of 11'0". Dakota tore up the track today, running a personal best of 6.77 seconds in the 55m dash -- just 0.01 seconds behind the event winner. (Dakota also placed 4th in the long jump with a mark of 20'2.25".) Despite being the very last event contested, Alex punched his ticket to states with a throw of 48'9.75" in the shot put after placing 7th in the weight throw (45'4.5").
Also competing at State Qualifiers today: Teresa Garcia '20: 10th place in 600m run (1:51.91), 16th place in triple jump (31'0.5") Destiny Little '19: 6th place in high jump (4'8"), 15th place in 55m hurdles (10.55) Hana Thibault '21: 19th place in 55m hurdles (11.15) George Taylor '19: 10th place in 55m hurdles (9.31), 10th place in triple jump (36'7.75") Kinsley Jacobs '23: 10th place in 1500m run (5:23.37) Mikaela Garcia '18: 5th in triple jump (34'4.5"), 15th place in 1500m run (5:41.46) Jack Thomas '20: 18th place in 1600m run (5:15.15) Liam Hulsebosch '18: 24th place in 1600m run (5:21.88) Kyle Reid '21: 7th place in high jump (5'4") Sam Panzer '20: 9th place in triple jump (18'1") Congratulations to all of these athletes, and GOOD LUCK to our Bobcats who will be representing Lansing at the State Championships!
