Good morning, Lansing T&F!
Email me when you can about your thoughts on whether to order team shirts or whether to make a donation to a charity (ie food bank, Lansing Lunchbox, etc) Last day for the webstore! (Just a note: these items are being sold at cost; this isn't a fundraiser.) Laps Under the Lights IS our fundraiser and online giving remains live. And then just another nudge of encouragement: STAY ACTIVE. Work up a sweat. I can't encourage this enough. You can do a workout that we send in our weekly emails or pick a circuit from darebee.com or go for a run or a bike ride (stay 6' away from others). You can use equipment you have at home if you're fortunate enough to have a treadmill or stationary bike. You can run up and down your stairs or do high knees or burpees. This takes SELF-DISCIPLINE. But it's worth it. And here's the honest confession: I have to force myself, to exercise self-discipline, to do this too. Pajamas and coffee and the newspaper till late in the morning is really tempting. But when I keep a schedule, get myself up bright and early and into the workout clothes I laid out the night before so I don't have an excuse and then workout: I never regret it. I give thanks that I have health and when the workout gets hard, I remind myself that I am getting stronger and that I'm grateful for the opportunity. It's not always what I want to do -- but it's what I get to do and also, frankly, what I need to do. My mental health is better when I've worked hard. My ability to help others is better when I've burned off some extra energy first thing. And I feel connected to all of you when I work out -- because I know that we as coaches ask you to do hard, brave things all the time. So I ask the same of myself and know that we are in this together. Stay well, Bobcats. Keep in touch and share how your workouts are going.
