With our scheduled senior night meet versus Dryden and Trumansburg cancelled due to hail, tonight's divisional meet that would normally be unscored took on new meaning: the winners of the head-to-head matchups between Lansing/Dryden/Trumansburg would be named IAC North Division Champions. Despite a long weekend (Legends, SATs, prom!), the Bobcats showed up ready to put their best feet forward. The girls would leave Marathon victorious, ending their regular dual meet season with an undefeated 8-0 record, claiming the IAC Divisional title. The boys were divisional runner-ups to Dryden. The 2023 Legends of the Night Invitational was hosted by Odessa-Montour. Dryden won both the boys and girls competition with the Lansing boys securing runner-up and the Lansing girls took third. It was a night of intense competition yielding some of the top performances in the IAC yet this season. Meet Highlights:
While it wasn't the senior night battle versus Dryden and Trumanburg that we expected, it certainly was a memorable evening! We had rain, lightning, thunder, insane wind, pounding hail, and more rain.... We had to postpone our dual meet scoring until next week when we head to Divisionals at Marathon. We'll have a "meet within a meet," pulling results from that competition to score out the head-to-head matchups of Lansing vs Dryden, Lansing vs TBurg, and Dryden vs TBurg.
Mother Nature did decide to cooperate enough to allow us to celebrate our seniors despite the meet cancellation. Our most sincere thanks to the seniors and their families for their contributions to our program and best of luck always!!! See photos below as well as some fantastic photos from Karin Silva here. The 4x800 team of Trent Thibault '26, Thomas Wells '23, Stephen Geise '24, Thomas Stallone '23 went down the hill to the Dan Fravil Ithaca Relays on Friday night, looking for some stiff competition. While the field quickly dropped away from the Bobcats, the four Lansing runners took full advantage of a fast track under the lights, dropping their season best by nearly 30 seconds, good enough for an overall win and a highly ranked provisional state qualifier mark. Lansing then woke up early for a trip to the Moravia Relays where the weather cooperated enough to get some quality runs, jumps, and throws recorded. Lansing girls came home with the overall title while the boys were runner-up by just under two points. Photos from Karin Silva here.

Both the boys and girls teams were victorious at Union Springs against both Union Springs and Marathon, bringing their records to 6-0.

Some of our athletes made the trip to Johnson City for some great competition at the Square Deal Invitational. While the persistent wind made for some challenging racing, it was a fantastic opportunity to face off against some of the same athletes with whom our Bobcats may encounter at Fast Times and state qualifiers.

Thanks to Karin Silva for capturing some of the action (meet photos here) and also Jami Johnston for snapping these photos: Thanks so much to everyone who generously donated to Laps Under the Lights! We enjoyed great weather with teammates, families, and some of our future Bobcat track and field athletes. The contributions made will enable our team to purchase gear, equipment, and items for team building and celebrations and more!
